In 2015, we started inviting volunteers to help us monitor the welfare of our animals, primarily to make sure they are not fed to visitors. When animals are not fed what they are supposed to eat, they get sick and sometimes die.

We also ask for volunteers to be on duty near the cages where the cubs have recently been born and the animals need peace. In addition, volunteers explain to visitors how to find the exhibit they are interested in, if necessary, they will guide them to it and show the right route. Our volunteers work at the contact area in the Children’s Zoo and Greenhouse, take care of the flowerbeds, help hold parties and do many other wonderful and useful things.

One of the main goals for which the Zoo was founded in 1964 is the preservation of populations of rare and endangered species in captivity, the preservation of their gene pool, scientific research on the world’s flora and fauna, and cultural education. By becoming a zoo volunteer, you will help us meet these global challenges and feel empowered to be a part of this important cause.

What do volunteers get?

  • Free admission to all zoo exhibits.
  • Free admission to excursions, including visits to the Zoo, which is closed to the public.
  • Especially for volunteers, employees of the scientific department of the Zoo give lectures and talk about the unique research in zoos, the behavior of animals and their interaction with people.
  • Internships are available for students!
  • The possibility of an interesting and useful pastime in a unique historical place with interesting people.
